Jefferson Park
Marion County, Oregon
Willamette National Forest
Fees: NW Forest Pass
Activity: hiking
Elevation: 4115'-5900'
Current status (as of 8/8/25): blooming
Notes:
There are four trailheads you can use to get into Jefferson Park, each with their pros and cons: Breitenbush Lake is by far the most scenic but lies at the junction of two truly horrible roads (one from the west and one from the north); the Whitewater Trailhead is easy to access and a relatively easy hike, but it goes through a severely burned area; Woodpecker Ridge is a little longer and also mostly burned, but the least crowded; and South Breitenbush is the least burned, but the trail is very rocky. (If you have access to a high-clearance vehicle, do Breitenbush Lake!)
As of 2025, the South Breitenbush Trailhead is still closed due to the 2020 fires.
Peak wildflower bloom at Jefferson Park is typically from late June through July into late August, but there may be some flowers blooming from early June until early September.*
