Darland Mountain

Yakima County, Washington

Ahtanum State Forest

Fees: Discover Pass

Activity: driving + hiking/biking

Elevation: 5000'-7000'

Current status (as of 2/12/26): not blooming

Notes: Darland Mountain is an unexpected 7000' peak in the middle of nowhere that blends together the Cascades and the shrub-steppe of central Washington. Rugged 4x4 vehicles can drive all the way to the summit, but most cars will want to stop near Clover Flats Campground and walk or bike the rest of the way. On the way up to Clover Flats, there are flowers along Middle Fork Ahtanum Creek Road and on Whites Ridge near Eagle Nest Vista.

Peak wildflower bloom on Darland Mountain is typically from mid-June through the end of July, but there may be some flowers blooming from early June until mid-August.*
