Dalles Mountain Road

Klickitat County, Washington

public road through private land

Fees: none

Activity: drive

Elevation: 670'-2300'

Current status (as of 4/25/24): blooming

Notes: Some of the best balsamroot slopes are on private land just east of Columbia Hills State Park. The road is on a public right-of-way, but don't go beyond the fences, because the landowners (Schreiner Farms) are hostile to hikers and photographers.

Peak wildflower bloom along Dalles Mountain Road is typically from early April through late May, but there may be some flowers blooming from late March until early June.* (In 2024, things are running a little later than usual.)
