Discussion | Variety pallescens is sometimes confused with Lathyrus laetivirens from which it differs in having smaller flowers (10–15 mm versus 15–20 mm in L. laetivirens), and 6–8 lanceolate versus 8–10 ovate leaflets. Variety leucanthus includes two distinct sympatric races: one with lanceolate leaflets (= L. leucanthus), and one with linear leaflets (= L. arizonicus Britton). (Discussion copyrighted by Flora of North America; reprinted with permission.) |
