Tauschia stricklandii

Strickland's tauschia, Strickland's umbrella-wort

Habit Herbs acaulous or very short-caulescent, green, 10–25 cm, glabrous.
Leaves

1–2-ternate or 1-pinnate;

petiole 2–10 cm;

blade ovate to obovate, 2–5 × 2–3 cm;

leaflets (ultimate segments) elliptic to broadly elliptic, 10–30 × 5–8 mm, not lobed, margins entire.

Peduncles

5–20 cm, exceeding leaves.

Umbels

rays 4–9, (0–)3–7(–15) mm, very unequal, spreading-ascending;

involucel bractlets not leaflike, ascending, linear to lanceolate, 1–3 mm, shorter than flowers and fruits, undivided or sometimes lobed near apex, margins entire.

Pedicels

0–4 mm.

Flowers

petals yellow.

Schizocarps

broadly ellipsoid to subglobose;

mericarps 2–3 × 2–3 mm;

ribs obscure or flattened;

oil ducts 2–3 in intervals, 4–6 on commissure.

Discussion

Tauschia stricklandii occurs on and near Mt. Rainier and in western Yakima County, Washington, and on steep slopes west of Mt. Hood, Oregon.
