Umbels | rays (0–)3–5, (0–)8–16 mm, unequal, spreading-ascending; involucel bractlets leaflike, ascending, oblong to ovate, 10–20 mm, much exceeding flowers and fruits, pinnately lobed, margins irregularly mucronate-serrate. |

Discussion | Tauschia howellii has umbels sessile or nearly so in the axils of leaves. Bractlets are similar to the foliage leaves in size and shape. It is known only from the Salmon Mountains in the Klamath Ranges of Siskiyou County, California, and Jackson County, Oregon.
