|
Phenology | Flowering fall (perhaps spring–summer). | Flowering late winter–early summer. |
Habitat | Open sites, gypseous soils | Rocky sites in deserts |

Distribution |
NM; TX |
AZ; Mexico

Discussion | Of conservation concern. Senecio warnockii is infrequently collected; additional study may show it to be an edaphic phase of S. flaccidus. The restriction to gypseous soils and the gross aspect combine to make it distinctive. (Discussion copyrighted by Flora of North America; reprinted with permission.) |
Some young or depauperate specimens of Senecio lemmonii from northern Mexico resemble S. californicus, which occurs farther to the west in California and Baja California. Whether or not there is a relationship between the two is undetermined. (Discussion copyrighted by Flora of North America; reprinted with permission.) |
