stamens 8, included;

filaments ± uniformly slender, glabrous;

anthers elongate, without awns, without tubules, dehiscent by 2 longitudinal slits;

pistil 4(–6)-carpellate;

ovary 1-locular;

placentation intruded-parietal;

style straight, slender;

stigma crownlike, (2 mm diam.), without subtending ring of hairs.

sepals 5–8 × 2–4 cm;

petals oblong, 8–10 × 4–6 cm, base slightly saccate, apex fimbriate;

stamens 0.8–1.1 cm;

anthers erect at anthesis, cream, 3–4 mm;

ovary 3–5 × 4–5 mm, glabrous;

style 1.5–2.5 × 2 mm;

stigma apex lobed.

Fruits

baccate, erect, fleshy, indehiscent.

Berries

1 cm diam.

Seeds

25–100, ovoid, not winged.

0.2–0.5 mm diam. 2n = 52.
