Micranthes hitchcockiana

Micranthes virginiensis

Phenology Flowering late spring–summer. Flowering spring.
Habitat Wet rocks and ledges on mountain-top balds Rocky hillsides, cliffs and shaded rock outcrops, stream banks, wooded slopes
Elevation 600-1100 m [2000-3600 ft] 0-1500 m [0-4900 ft]
Discussion

Of conservation concern.

Micranthes hitchcockiana may have originated from hybridization between M. rufidula and M. oregana (P. E. Elvander 1984; W. E. Perkins 1978).

Also reported for Micranthes virginiensis is 2n = 28; D. E. Soltis (1983) documented zero to six supernumerary chromosomes in this species and speculated that this report may have included eight supernumeraries.
