Malacothamnus davidsonii occurs on the central Coast Ranges of San Luis Obispo and Monterey counties and Transverse Ranges in Los Angeles County. It intergrades with M. fasciculatus in Little Tujunga and Pacoima canyons in Los Angeles County. Of conservation concern.
