Cusick's lupine

Habit Herbs 13–30 cm, shaggy. Herbs 5(–10) cm, canescent, taprooted.
Stems

decumbent to erect.

ascending-erect, several from taproot, profusely branched at base, elongated stem internode 1–3 cm.

Leaves

some basal, mostly cauline;

leaflet blades usually 5–15(–30) mm, surfaces hairy to shaggy.

2–10 cm, exserted beyond leaves, open.

Discussion

Variety ramosus is known from the central and southern Sierra Nevada and in the Sweetwater and White mountains.

Variety cusickii is known from a few populations near Unity in Baker County, Oregon (K. A. Weitemier 2010) and near Donnelly and McCall in Valley County, Idaho.
