Habit Herbs 5(–10) cm, canescent, taprooted. Herbs 7–12 cm, hairs long-dense, appressed, silvery.

ascending-erect, several from taproot, profusely branched at base, elongated stem internode 1–3 cm.

Discussion

Variety cusickii is known from a few populations near Unity in Baker County, Oregon (K. A. Weitemier 2010) and near Donnelly and McCall in Valley County, Idaho.

Variety ashlandensis is known only from Mount Ashland in the Siskiyou Mountains of Jackson County.
