Cusick's lupine

Habit Herbs 7–12 cm, hairs long-dense, appressed, silvery. Herbs 5(–10) cm, canescent, taprooted.
Stems

ascending-erect, several from taproot, profusely branched at base, elongated stem internode 1–3 cm.

Leaves

basal;

leaflet blades 10–20 mm, surfaces with long, dense, silvery-appressed hairs.

Discussion

Variety ashlandensis is known only from Mount Ashland in the Siskiyou Mountains of Jackson County.

Variety cusickii is known from a few populations near Unity in Baker County, Oregon (K. A. Weitemier 2010) and near Donnelly and McCall in Valley County, Idaho.
