blade oblanceolate or lanceolate, 10–40 mm, margins 4–12-toothed.

calyx 4–8 mm, lobes lanceolate to ovate;

corolla white or cream, lobes sometimes rose tinged, lined purplish or pinkish, 12–18 mm, tube plus distinct throat 4–8 mm, shorter than adaxial lip, adaxial lip 8–12 mm;

pollen sacs 0.6–0.8 mm;

staminode glabrous, slightly exserted.

Discussion

Putative hybrids between var. glabrisepala and Keckiella lemmonii were first reported by D. D. Keck (1936) based on staminode indument. The same characteristics are found in this variety in Alpine County, California, outside the current range of K. lemmonii, suggesting potential widespread introgression (D. C. Michener 1982).

An 1887 collection by E. Palmer (71, Los Angeles Bay, Gulf of California, Lower California, NY) seems misplaced as to location.
