Varieties 2 (2 in the flora). (Discussion copyrighted by Flora of North America; reprinted with permission.) |
Eriogonum ostlundii is relatively common in Piute and Sevier counties, and just enters Garfield County. It is similar to E. spathulatum and could be confused with infrequent, glabrous individuals of that species that occur in Beaver County on the western deserts of Utah. The United States Forest Service considers E. ostlundii to be a “sensitive” species. (Discussion copyrighted by Flora of North America; reprinted with permission.) |
1. Flowers 5-9 mm, perianth cream, rarely yellow; achenes (5-)5.5-8 mm; North Coast Ranges, Siskiyou and Trinity counties | var. erubescens |
1. Flowers 4-6 mm, perianth pale yellow or rarely yellow; achenes 3-3.5 mm; n Sierra Nevada, Lassen and Shasta counties to Nevada, Placer, Plumas, and Sierra counties | var. ursinum |
