Of conservation concern. Eriogonum nortonii is a rare and localized species restricted to the Gabilan Range of Monterey and San Benito counties, from Fremont Peak south to The Pinnacles. It is confined largely to two protected areas, the Hastings Natural History State Reservation and the Pinnacles National Monument. Of conservation concern. Eriogonum greggii just enters the flora area in Hildago and Starr counties, where it is rare. In Mexico, the plants occur in Coahuila and Nuevo León, nearly always below 1850 m. There, Gregg’s wild buckwheat occasionally is found in montane conifer woodlands.
