Discussion

Cologania pallida is still poorly known and is distinguished by its fascicles of one or two chasmogamous flowers rarely mixed with one or two cleistogamous, and by its pallid green leaves, with usually elliptic to ovate-elliptic, strigose or glabrous leaflets. The legumes are often strongly curved.

Cologania pallida is uncommon in Arizona. Extant populations are known only from the Huachuca Mountains in southern Cochise County, though it is also known historically from the White Mountains in Apache County.
