Clitoria ternatea var. ternatea |
|
Phenology | Flowering Mar–Nov (year-round). |
Habitat | Sandy soils. |
Elevation | 0–200 m. (0–700 ft.) |
Distribution |
FL; TX; Africa [Introduced in North America; introduced also in Central America] |
Discussion | A population of var. ternatea is naturalized in the Florida Keys. Plants in supposedly wild populations in eastern Texas probably do not survive the winter. Reports of var. ternatea from California and Georgia are likely based on misidentifications. A form with white petals is common in Africa and introduced elsewhere.
