Discussion

Variety lonchus has a largely coastal distribution from Morro Bay in San Luis Obispo County southward to the Santa Maria Plains in northern Baja California.

Variety antisellii occurs from Kern and San Luis Obispo counties southward to western Riverside county.

Variety antisellii is a relatively tall taxon with ample leaves and elongate, loosely-flowered racemes, which do not much elongate in fruit. The long-stipitate, pendulous, laterally compressed legumes bicarinate by the sutures are diagnostic for this variety.
