Discussion | Variety neomexicanus is predominantly of the northwestern quarter of New Mexico, with outlying populations along the drainage of the Pecos River in De Baca and Chaves counties. Plants from the latter area have somewhat the habit of var. kentrophyta but the pungent leaflets and short calyx lobes of var. neomexicanus. The distribution of var. jessiae is bicentric: southwestern Idaho and southeastern Oregon, and northeastern Utah and southwestern Wyoming. (Discussion copyrighted by Flora of North America; reprinted with permission.) |
