Discussion

Variety diaphanoides is known from Lassen County in California, along the Bruneau, Malheur, Owyhee, and Snake rivers in Elmore, Owyhee, and Twin Falls counties in Idaho, Washoe County in Nevada, and Deschutes, Harney, and Malheur counties in Oregon.

Variety iodanthus is known from Mono County in California, southwestern Idaho, Malheur County in southeastern Oregon, northern and central Nevada, and Box Elder and Tooele counties in northwestern Utah.
