Discussion | Variety didymocarpus is the most widely dispersed form of the species, apparently having geographic contact with all of the other varieties and more or less blending with them. It occurs from the Sacramento Valley southward through the San Joaquin Valley, then nearer the coast (including the Channel Islands) to Baja California, with eastern populations in eastern Inyo County and adjacent Nevada. Variety obispensis occurs mostly inland but west of the deserts, from Los Angeles County southward to Baja California. (Discussion copyrighted by Flora of North America; reprinted with permission.) |
