Discussion

Variety convallarius demonstrates considerable variability in presence or absence of leaflets, length of fruits, shape and length of calyx-lobes, pubescence coloration in the inflorescences, and degree of development of the stipelike bases of the fruits. Various combinations of these features in the past have resulted in recognition of several taxa. R. C. Barneby (1947c) detailed and summarized variation in the complex.
