Discussion | Of all taxa of Amorpha in the flora area, A. californica is one of the most distinctive, due to the presence of spinelike glands. Of the two varieties, var. californica is the more widespread and common, with var. napensis a localized endemic in a small portion of northern California (Marin, Napa, and Sonoma counties). At this time, var. napensis is not listed by the state of California or any federal agency. (Discussion copyrighted by Flora of North America; reprinted with permission.) |
