Habit | Coarse aromatic perennial from a stout rhizome, glabrous throughout, 4-15 dm. tall. |
Leaves | Leaves numerous, 1-2 dm. long and nearly half as wide, usually sessile, pinnatifid, with winged rachis, the pinnae again pinnatifid, with broadly winged rachis, the pinnules often again toothed. |
Flowers | Heads numerous, commonly 20-200, the inflorescence with a broad, rounded top, the disk about 5-10 mm. wide; involucre bracts imbricate, dry, the margins and tips papery; corollas all tubular, 5-toothed, yellow; pappus a minute crown. |
Fruits | Achenes 5-ribbed, glandular. |
