Habit Herbaceous, scapose perennial from a deep-seated corm, the scape 1-2 dm. tall.
Leaves

Leaves 2, basal, not mottled, oblong-elliptic, 10-20 cm. long, narrowed to short, broad petioles.
Flowers

Flowers 1-5 in a loose raceme, nodding;

tepals 6, distinct, lanceolate, cream to golden, 2.5-3.5 cm. long, reflexed;

filaments 6, white, linear;

anthers white or yellow to red;

style slender, stigma thick, 1-2 mm. long.
Fruits

Capsule club-shaped, 3-6 cm. long.
