Thompson's pincushion

Habit Thinly woolly-canescent perennial from a branched, woody base and taproot, the numerous stems 1-3 dm. tall.
Leaves

Leaves all cauline, flat, pinnatifid, with a broad midrib, up to about 5 cm. long.

Flowers

Heads discoid, few or solitary on each stem;

involucre 10-14 mm. high, the bracts narrow and equal;

flowers light pink, all perfect;

pappus of 10-16 hyaline scales.
