Forest margins, fields, roadsides, riverbanks, disturbed sites, mountain slopes, woods, meadows. Flowering May–Aug. 0–2400 m. BR, BW, Casc, CR, ECas, Est, Sisk, WV. CA, ID, NV, WA; throughout most of Canada and US; Africa, Asia, Europe. Native.
