usually hairy with simple or branched pale hairs at least on the costae;

leaf bases persistent, sometimes large and contiguous and covering the stem.

Pinnae

not much divided; entire to deeply pinnatifid, often shortly petiolate.

Veins

free, usually unbranched, extending to the margin, not anastomosing.

Sori

round or slightly elongated;

indusia rounded with a sinus at the point of attachment or kidney-shaped, conspicuous to small, persistent to ephemeral.
