Discussion | Asia, North America. 3 subspecies; 2 subspecies treated in Flora. |
Coniferous forests. Flowering May–Aug. 0–2100 m. BR, BW, Casc, CR, ECas, Sisk, WV. CA, WA; north to British Columbia, south to Mexico. Native. Previously considered conspecific with P. picta, this species was recently shown to be phylogenetically differentiated by Jolles and Wolfe (2012). |
