Rocky slopes, cliffs, ridges, gravel creek bars, andesite ledges, fir forests. Flowering May–Sep. 100–3000 m. BR, BW, Casc, CR, Est, Sisk. CA, ID, NV, WA; throughout Canada and western United States; circumboreal. Native.
