Sierra rush

Habit Plants perennial, 10–70 cm tall, rhizomatous, rhizomes elongate, not tuberous at nodes.
Leaves

round to flattened; hollow, septate;

auricles 1–3.2 mm.

Flowers

tepals 6, brown to dark brown;

stamens 6;

styles 0.7–1.8 mm.

Capsules

usually shorter than or equaling the tepals, dark brown, abruptly tapered to distinct beak, 1-chambered.

Seeds

ellipsoid to ovoid, 0.3–0.6 × 0.2–0.3 mm, apiculate, reticulate.
