Discussion

Cosmopolitan. Approximately 65 genera; 4 genera treated in Flora.

Three genera of subfamily Iridoideae are native to Oregon (Iris, Olsynium, and Sisyrinchium); subfamily Crocoideae (=Ixioideae) is represented by one exotic species (Crocosmia × crocosmiiflora). Bracts subtending inflorescences are termed “spathes” in some treatments.
