Distribution | ||
Discussion | 2 varieties. A high elevation alpine species, C. mertensiana is generally found only above 2000 meters on moist, rocky mountain slopes. This species is distinguished from other Oregon ericaceous species by its small, scale-like leaves. |
Rocky, high elevation montane areas. Flowering Jul–Aug. 2100–3000 m. BW. ID, WA; northeast to MT. Native. Within Oregon, C. mertensiana var. gracilis has thus far only been collected in the Wallowa Mountains. |
