Inflorescences

bracts 2; to 5 cm long.

Flowers

sepals lance ovate, 10–12 mm long;

petals 12–16 mm long, white to purple, purple chevron above nectary, with sparse simple hairs near nectary;

nectary with a membrane, crested with short simple hairs;

filaments to 5 mm long;

anthers to 4 mm long, purple.

sepals ovate; to 20 mm long, acuminate;

petals to 25 mm long, white, rounded at apex;

inner surface with short dense white hairs above and purple hairs on a green base near nectary (may appear to be brown hairs);

petal claw papillate;

nectary crested with branching hairs;

filaments to 7 mm long;

anthers oblong; to 7 mm long, acuminate.

Fruits

erect, elliptic, 10–20 mm long; acutish at both ends.

Discussion

Grasslands. Flowering May–Jul. 1800–2000m. Casc, Sisk. CA. Native.

Rocky serpentine soils. Flowering Jun–Jul. 300–800m. Sisk. Native.

This species is known only from the Illinois Valley of southern Oregon. See also C. umpquaensis.
