Talus, rock outcrops, gravelly soil, sagebrush-grassland communities. Flowering Mar–Jun. 100–1800 m. Lava, Sisk. CA, ID, NV; southeast to UT. Native.

Rock outcrops, gravelly slopes in sagebrush, open conifer forests, subalpine meadows. Flowering Apr–Aug. 1300–2400 m. BR, BW. CA, ID, NV, WA; north to Yukon, northeast to MT, east to WY, southeast to UT. Native.
